SHOE CARE
Most of the shoes in our collections consist of shoes crafted from leather. As you probably already noticed, leather is something we take seriously. A high quality leather has a long life span and the potential to look better over time - given you treat them every once in a while.
A saturated leather is a happy leather - that resists harsh stuff like salty roads, rain, snow and even some red wine.
As with everything else, there’s many different ways to go depending on what end result you’re aiming for.
FOR PROTECTIVE TREATMENT
You'll need:
- 1x bottle of the best shoegrease out there
1. Start by removing the shoelaces, it’ll make the rest of the work much easier.
2. If the shoes are dirty, clean them! You do this in order not to rub old dirt into the leather. Wet a sponge or other suitable cloth and wipe off any visible dirt.
3. Apply the grease in thin layers. To prevent grease stains on your pants, let the leather saturate for a few minutes before using them.
Voila, you’re done! Not that hard, huh?
FOR A SHINY LOOK
You'll need:
- 1x tube / bottle of shoe polish in the desired color
- 1x shoe shine brush or a nylon rag for polishing
- A few drops of water
1. Start by removing the shoelaces, it will make the rest of the work much easier.
2. If the shoes are dirty, clean them! You do this in order not to rub old dirt into the leather. Wet a sponge or other suitable cloth and wipe off any visible dirt.
3. Apply the shoe polish and spread in thin layers. Let the leather saturate a few minutes and wipe off excess cream.
4. Sprinkle a few drops of water on the shoes and polish until your sweat drips.
5. Repeat the procedure for even more shine.
HOW TO PROTECT SUEDE SHOES
You’ve probably heard that suede is unable to withstand rain and that they would be a bad choice when looking for winter shoes. This is a reputation we would like to put an end to.
There is no problem to use suede shoes - in all types of weather - as long as you’ve protected them with a protective impregnation spray before using them and that’s pretty much it!
Drench them in spray and let them saturate for 24h. Give them another go and saturate for about 8h. After that, there’s nothing stopping you. Take a step in the first puddle of mudd you find and watch the dirt run off - just like magic!
Spray the shoes every now and then throughout the season. If you’ll notice that the shoes are getting wet, give them another round with the spray.
Another good investment for your suede shoes is a suede brush. The classic suede brush contains a combination of natural or synthetic bristles mixed with brass bristles. Use the brush to remove dirt and to rugg up the suede structure.
Well, that wasn’t to hard, was it? Remember, the more love you give your shoes, the longer you’ll stay together.
